Chania, Greece

Chania is a historical town located north of the Crete region. It is accessible from the airport in Akrotiri by only fourteen kilometers to reach the town. Chania has the second highest population out of the whole population of Crete. It lacks uniformity by existing in two forms of urban centers: The New Chania Town and The Old Chania Town. The New Chania Town embraces modernization in every sector of life and management of the town. It is a place of day-to-day business activities, involving groceries, fish, and beef and veggies take place.

The Old Town looks to be mainly for historical reporting of Chania Town. The Old Town is rarely lively. It is located at the Venetian Harbor. Narrow streets and out-dated architecture is prevalent there together with archaeological materials that confirm the existence of an ancient popular urban center called the City of Kydonia. The natives of the town are majorly Greek with minorities of foreigners settling in the town. The natives speak Greek language that has been used since time memorial, even in times of the Biblical events that involved the Greek. This shows that Chania Town, being a part of Crete, a Greek region, has a long footage of history symbolizing Chania Town and the whole of Crete as one of the most important towns in the world.

Chania Town has lots of attractive scenery that bring several tourists to the place. Crete has rich history especially a legend that relates the country to Greece. This popular story makes the Crete and Greece famous internationally. Chania Town benefits from this legend as part of Crete. There is an archaeological museum at Haledon Street showing the archaeological materials that help create the Stone Age history of Chania Town. There are remains and a fort preserved for history recording by every visitor visiting Chania Town.
